Envelope Structures - Inflatable Temporary buildings, Hampshire UK - Frequently Asked Questions
How do inflatable buildings stay up?
The buildings are totally supported by air provided by an electric blower which runs continuously.
How quickly can inflatable buildings be set up?
The set up time will depend on the number of units joined together, the number of people helping and the size of the units.
Typical joining time is 15 minutes per join with inflation time of 3 to 4 minutes.
When the inflatable building is inflated can the blower be switched off?
No, the blower needs to run all the time. This avoids any problems with small punctures or holes.
What are the power requirements of an inflatable structure?
Each section comes with its own electric blower. The power requirements depend on the size of the section. Multiple sections can run with fewer blowers and it therefore depends on your individual design and requirements.
How is the temporary building anchored?
The building can be anchored on hard or soft ground.
On hard ground the ideal solution is to have fixings into the concrete or tarmac but use of the ground anchor flaps with suitable weights such as vehicles, water ballast, sand bags or similar, is more than adequate.
On soft ground the use of anchor pegs is preferable.
How good is the insulation of inflatables compared with a single skin tent?
The inflatable uses a double skin to give its shape and therefore there is a wide layer of trapped air. This air gives good insulation against outside temperatures.
How much light gets through the inflatable building?
If you require maximum light inside then the use of translucent material achieves this.
If however you need the inside to be blacked out, this can easily be achieved by manufacturing in a dark colour on either the inner, outer or both skins of the inflatable building.
You can even have a removable cover / lining to enable alternating between the two.
How large can the building be?
The building can be up to 13m wide internally without extra support, and with no limit to the length by joining multiple units together.
If someone damages the inflatable what will happen?
If a small hole is made then there will probably be no noticeable change since the blower is running at a small fraction of its capacity, a simple repair can be carried out with the building still inflated. Larger repairs can still be carried out on site, just contact us for advice.
What if someone tries to set fire to the building with a cigarette?
As all of the materials used are fire retardant to BS 5438 part 2 and will not sustain a flame, the chances are that a cigarette will be put out and just leave a small burn mark.
